The term "InclusiveHE = Inclusion in Higher Education" refers to policies and practices that remove the barriers that certain students and academic staff (researchers and professors) face, in order to work, study and learn more successfully. Inclusive policies and practices aim to address the needs of students with disabilities such as special educational needs, visual, hearing, mobility disabilities, as well as sexual and gender minorities, foreign and underrepresented groups such as foreign nationals, immigrants and refugees.
This is exactly the main aim of the InclusiveHE project: to support higher education institutions (HEIs), in order to develop innovative policies for integrating inclusive practices into the design and teaching of university courses.
The Romanian partner of the InclusiveHE project, the University of Pitesti, organized a multiplier event on November 8, 2022 to raise awareness on this interesting project and disseminate the rich material produced. The event was attended by 84 participants from the University of Craiova, of which 76 were students and 8 academics. The participants first familiarized themselves with the project’s objectives and main outputs: the Toolkit, the Training Course, the E-Learning Platform and the MOOC. Then, they discussed about inclusion in their own higher education institution, filled in an evaluation form and received certificates of participation.
The general feedback was quite encouraging. Participants expressed their interest and satisfaction with the notions taught and considered the material useful in their future activity in higher education.
Below are some testimonials from both students and teachers:
